Area description

The city of Makarska easily reminds of an antique city guarded by gods, from east and west by natural enclosures of St. Peter peninsula and cape Osejava, by looming Biokovo mountain from above and deep blue sea from below.
Under Napoleon, the city of Makarska developed both through culture and through connecting to other cities in the region by building roads. But it was Austro-Hungarian governorships that can be ‘blamed’ for development of tourism.
Carved from the stony mass of the mountain above that protects it from influences of chaotic climate changes, Makarska is blessed with calm Mediterranean climate, long and warm summers and mild winters.
Today, Makarska, with its beautiful beaches and crystal clear sea, attracts thousands of tourists every year. Besides the sea, this city offers much more: inviting gastronomy scene, trips by boats to many surrounding islands and colorful places hiding behind the Biokovo mountain, Biokovo natural park, and a vibrant nightlife.

Popular points of interest near the apartment include Makarska Franciscan Monastery with an interesting Malacology museum, St. Marc Cathedral and Makarska Main Square, Skywalk viewpoint at the top of Biokovo mountain.
Many bars and restaurants are invitingly located along the city promenade.
